There has been a lot of hype about self-exploding self-balancing electric scooters. Naturally, as distributors of these lovely gadgets form the future we immediately turned to our manufacturer. Why these things explode? Should we take them down? However, as in all matters, here too, education is the key. It turns out that, percentage wise, an insignificant number of swegways actually exploded and what explodes is always the battery. The same kind of lithium battery you can find in literally every high-tech gadget you already own.

As our safety note stipulates, lithium-ion batteries are used in lots of products, such as mobile phones, laptops, electric vehicles, and generators. The use of these batteries is generally safe, and most have built-in safety features. Unfortunately, in rare cases, these batteries can overheat, catch fire, or explode.

If you don’t overcharge your battery, expose it to extreme weather conditions or smash your scooter against sharp objects, chances are, you’ll be perfectly fine. For the sake of comparison we made this table that outlines the main features of some of the most prominent electric scooter boards on the market.

We still sell Machinery electric scooters because we have a great relationship with our supplier who was constantly reassuring us of the high safety standards they apply when building this babies. Also, if you want to be extra cautious, you can always add the Samsung battery for just $6. What keeps our prices low is no miracle; scooter boards are not our only product, we scored a contract with a great manufacturer, we keep our operational business cost super low and, we don’t spend tons on marketing (which significantly impacts the price of any product).

We have written about the swagness of scooter boards before but after all the unfortunate incidents we felt like our customers need to be educated on our product decisions. Hope this helps! Swag away:)
